This picture is an aerial shot taken from a long distance from New York. In the foreground are the placid waters of the harbour. The Statue of Liberty is but a tiny cyan dot to the left.
From the center of the frame upwards is the city of New York. It is completly hidden by voluminous white clouds that are being blown by the wind to the right hand side of the frame.
The clouds form the shape of a thick wedge, with its point at the far left of the image, and its thick edge reaching skywards on the right.
Barely any buildings are visible except a few poking through the smoke at the thin edge of the smoke wedge.
From this picture one would get the impression that the entire city was on fire.
